A TV chef is backing one of our local pubs as he tries to encourage us away from our motorways.
Ready Steady Cook's Anthony Worrall-Thompson says The Crab at Chieveley is a value for money alternative to service station food.
It comes after a recent survey compiled by Europcar said only five per cent of us think roadside food isn't over priced.
Anthony says he and his family make time on their journeys to eat elsewhere: "We go down to Cornwall quite often so we want to stop and the kids love it there.
"It's funny really because it's a quirky little place but they do fantastic non-poncy, I like to call it, good honest food.
"I think the trouble with our service stations is it's a one stop shop. They've got us by the short and curlies! We all need a loo break, the kids are shouting that they want a drink, and when you are there you think well we may as well eat". |
