Presenters / Paul Hurrell
Paul Hurrell

Paul Hurrell is fresh from sixth form and is looking to gain some radio experience. He's been working at Newbury Sound behind the scenes since leaving John O'Gaunt school in Hungerford and is now the proud owner of his own show every Sunday night!

Here's some more about Paul....

How did I get started in radio? Not sure I have yet! Newbury Sound is the only station I've worked for. Started here at launch handing out car stickers for a few months, then a few more months doing a little bit of editing here, some producing there, before a certain Stuart McGinley asked if I'd like to do my own show... Well I was hardly going to say no! I'd love to give you more detail into my (not-so) illustrious radio career, but that's actually all there is to it.

I'm a local lad, lived in Hungerford since I was 5 so I know a little bit about what it's like here in West Berkshire (or 'The Shire', if you prefer). As for why I got into radio, well, back when I was at school, I used to present all the talent shows and what-nots that went on, until eventually one of the teachers said I should look into doing this presenting lark as a career, and I was always taught not to disagree with teachers, so here I am.

More about me:

Name:  Paul Hurrell

Age:  19, pushing 20.

Starsign: Scorpio. The best one.

1st job: Working at a garden centre. Wasn't for me, only did it for a few months. My lack of knowledge of all things gardening probably didn't help.

Which three words best describe you? I doubt they'd be nice words, so I'll give this one a miss thanks!

When you aren't on the radio, what do you like to do? Not much. You'd be hard pressed to find someone who's as good at doing nothing as me. Just like to relax really, hang out with friends, listen to music, watch football. Nothing hugely interesting I'm afraid. I also like doing a bit of acting (I was in a mooovie, don't you know) but I doubt I'll make a career out of it.

Whom do you admire? Myself, no one else does!

Most famous person you have ever met? I shook Stuart Pearce's hand once. That was cool.

What really winds you up? Bad drivers, and indeed good drivers that make me look bad. People spelling 'Hurrell' wrong. Oh, and the phrase 'Watch this space', awful.

Best thing about West Berkshire: Nice mix of towns and countryside, and near enough to places like Reading and London, if the need arises.

Worst thing about West Berkshire: The traffic. Shocking.

Film? Really liked the first 'Pirates of the Caribbean' movie, but not so much the second two. The Lord of the Rings movies were good too, to be honest, anything with swords and all that usually makes a good watch for me.

TV Show as a kid? Friends. Love that show. Still watch it now.

TV Show now? Hmm, now that Lost and 24 are over, I don't know! Does 'the football' count?
