Newbury's town councillors have spoken out against plans for 87 homes in the town centre.
It's over a planning application for flats and houses at the old Travis Perkins site on Mill Lane.
Councillor David Allen who looks after the Victoria Ward says they were disappointed with the proposal: "It is a good scheme, close to the town centre, close to some of the industries and the businesses in the town, but we think it is a severe overdevelopment of the area.
"We're just very disappointed with the lack of car parking, no thought about any footpaths through the development. And then you've got no green areas on the site to play.
"And the agent was talking about going to Victoria Park and Stroud Green - it's just totally unacceptable. It did seem to me that the agent didn't really know the area very well".
A spokesman for David Wilson Homes said they are local people who care about the local community and they will listen to the comments and work towards a solution. |
