Newsreader Turns Beekeeper
Friday 30th July 2010

A TV newsreader has been swapping the sofa and his suit for a beekeepers hat, and telling Hungerford people all about it.

BBC Breakfast presenter Bill Turnbull went along to the Bear Hotel in the town last night after an invitation from the Hungerford Book Shop.

Bill's new book sees him writing about his experiences of learning how to be a beekeeper, and not really being that successful at it!

But he told us this won't mean an end to his journalistic career: "It's an attempt to have another string to one's bow. You never know what's going to happen in the world of broadcasting - we're moving on and doing different things. I can't keep getting up at quarter to four in the morning forever.

"So it would be nice if this book were successful, to be able to write more, and I'm looking for fresh inspiration!".

The book is called the Bad Beekeeper's Club: How I Stumbled Into the Curious World of Bees and Became (Perhaps) a better Person.
