There are just 24 hours to go until the Newbury Blues kick off the new season.

The local rugby team is playing in the National Two division this year with their first match away to Bristol based Dings Crusaders tomorrow.

Director of Rugby, Andy Widdop, says they're feeling positive about the future. He said: "We're confident, but there's a certain amount of trepidation.

"We've dropped down a division so in some ways we know what we're letting ourselves in for, but in other ways we don't.

"To go down to Bristol and open up our season will be hard. There's a lot of clubs down there and they enjoy playing their rugby.

"It's a fairly hard style of rugby and we're prepared for that. We're looking forward to it."
