Newbury's Mayor has been on air with us this morning here on Newbury Sound as we continue to celebrate the launch of your new radio station for West Berkshire.

Councillor Kuldip Singh Kang's been just one of our well-wishers so far this week. Yesterday we welcomed MP Richard Benyon to our studios in Bone Lane.

Speaking on Chris Wright At Breakfast the Mayor said: "It's an exciting time in Newbury, we've got a lot of development going on, lots of exciting things happening with our new cinema opening and the Parkway development going on.

"I think it's going to be a really really good time, people are really looking forward to what's going on in Newbury and really getting involved and having their say."

He also told us all about the upcoming Diwali Extravaganza in aid of the Mayor's Benevolent Fund.
