All of the local football matches were called off on Saturday due to frozen pitches.  Hungerford Town were due to play away at Abingdon United and Kintbury were due to entertain Newbury FC in the local derby.

Thatcham Town FC played on New Years Day against Bracknell Town winning 5-0.

The only game to go ahead was in rugby - Newbury Blues were at home to 3rd from bottom Blackheath, narrowly losing 23-25.

In the Championship, Reading played a late games against Liverpool, drawing one all.
