Newbury Sound have teamed up with West Berkshire Council Trading Standards this week as part of their Scamnesty Month to offer you advice on beating the scammers.
Scammers are becoming more sophisticated and aim to con us all. Bogus sweepstakes and lotteries, get-rich quick schemes and fake health cures are some of the favoured means of separating the unwary from their money. But the number of scams just keeps on growing.
Every day this week at 9.40am you'll hear advice from West Berkshire Trading Standards about how to spot a scam, what to watch out for and what you should do if you think you've been a victim of a scam.
We'll be focussing on different scams each day:
- Monday - Lotteries, Sweepstakes and competitions from Anna Aston, West Berkshire Trading Standards
- Tuesday - Work from Home Schemes from Robert Charlton, West Berkshire Trading Standards
- Wednesday - Foreign Money Offers and Advance Fee schemes from Kevin Thompson, West Berkshire Trading Standards
- Thursday - Pyramid Selling Schemes from Sean Murphy, West Berkshire Trading Standards
- Friday - Miracle Health Cures from Lisa Brown, West Berkshire Trading Standards
