A row is breaking out between the same town councilors and Sainsbury's over a request to put up signs around the supermarket.
The Newbury-based store wants to erect 17 separate banners around Sainsbury's perimeter.
But Town Councillor David Allen says it isn't right for the town: "If you saw the plans, it was literally the whole perimeter going along the 339, along the Kings Road and we just thought it was too much.
"I think, just visually, you have 17 signs and we have no idea what they are going to be advertising. I just think it would look a bit of a mess around that area".
Sainsbury's has issued a statement saying: "We would like to show our customers the new offers we have in store and are disappointed that the Town Council doesn't support our plans". |
