A local music group will be getting groovy tonight, as it celebrates its eighth birthday today.

The Hungerford Jazz Forum was set up in 2002 as a way of bringing local musicians together and giving them a chance to perform on a regular basis.

The band will be marking their special anniversary with a session at the Royal British Legion in Hungerford this evening from 8pm.

"The Council was advertising a seminar to show you how you could get money from the Lottery. So I went along to that and picked up all the forms and fairly quickly we got about £3,600."

"We used that to buy amplifiers, microphones, stage lighting, music books and music stands. So now we've got all this gear we can set the Hungerford Jazz Forum up as a small jazz club."
